1. THE MISSING DOLLAR
Three men stay at a hotel for the night. The innkeeper charges thirty dollars per room per night. The men rent one room; each pays ten dollars. The bellhop leads the men to their room. Later, the innkeeper discovers he has overcharged the men and asks the bellhop to return five dollars to them. On the way upstairs, the bellhop realizes that five dollars can’t be evenly split among three men, so he decides to keep two dollars for himself and return one dollar to each man.
At this point, the men have paid nine dollars each, totalling 27. The bellhop has two, which adds up to 29. Where did the thirtieth dollar go?

The mistake is in how the thirty dollars are accounted for. The two dollars that the bellhop has are part of the 27 the men have paid. A correct accounting of the money is that 27 dollars were paid and three dollars were not, totaling 30 dollars.
2. THE WOMAN ON THE ROAD
A man was driving a black truck. His lights were not on. The moon was not out. A lady was crossing the street not holding a torch or any bright object. How did the man see her?

3. MR. SJAIKS’ DROOM
Mr. Sjaiks is nachtwaker in een groot bedrijf. Op een zekere ochtend als Mr. Sjaiks naar huis wil gaan zegt zijn baas tegen hem: “Ik ga op zakenreis naar Noorwegen. Morgen vertrek ik vanaf Schiphol.” Mr. Sjaiks raadt hem echter dringend aan om de boot te nemen. “Hoe dat zo?” vraagt de directeur. “Nou” is het antwoord, “ik droomde vannacht dat het vliegtuig naar Noorwegen vlak voor de landing neerstortte, je waet ut.” De directeur lacht er eerst om, maar bijgelovig als hij is, hij gaat toch met de boot. In Noorwegen aangekomen hoort hij dat het vliegtuig waarvoor hij in eerste instantie gekozen had inderdaad een ongeluk heeft gehad. Terug in Nederland laat hij bij Mr. Sjaiks een grote bos bloemen bezorgen, geeft hem een grote beloning en ontslaat hem op staande voet! Waarom??
